Parts & Upgrades
You can find all the spare parts and upgrades for your 1:28 scale Mini-Z. Generally, the first upgrade modifications to the standard kits will be the bearings and tyres. We're happy to give advice on any of these upgrades or build your winning car for you from scratch, just ask us for more information.
All of our stocked parts and upgrades are tried and tested by racers for racers.
Not sure where to start?
As there are 3 main types of chassis available, they all have different starting points and recommended first upgrades.
We have made a list for each section (2WD/AWD/F1) that explains what to get first...
2WD

Tires
The stock tyres supplied with most kits are very hard, they will work, but to get the most out of your car
we recommend fitting rubber tyres for most surfaces or silicone for either carpet or hardwood.
Bearings
A box stock MR-02/MR-03/F1 comes with plastic bushes, bearings will give you a more efficient drivetrain, longer run-times and most importantly more speed!!!
Suspension King Pins
These are the pins at the front of the car that the steering knuckle slides up and down, from the factory these have a black anti-rust coating and feel very sticky, limiting the suspension action. You have 2 choices here:
- polish the pins by hand
- get the Stainless pins made by any of the current manufacturers, as a general rule stick to the same manufacturer ATM knuckles with ATM pins and PN racing Knuckles with PN racing pins
H-plates
This part (located underneath the chassis) controls the rear suspension action, soft will give more grip at the cost of corner speed and hard will give more corner speed at the cost of grip.
The trick is to find the best compromise for your chosen running surface, start with a medium and work up or down grades depending on how you like the handling.
This is an area where the F1 is different, currently there are very few options for the rear suspension, the most effective one is to fit the Kyosho carbon suspension plates along with the optional spring kit.
4WD
Tires
The stock tyres supplied with most AWD kits are a mixture of 20* slicks and 30* slicks for the front.
These are excellent all round tyres and will last quite a while, but too grippy for drifting.
We recommend fitting rubber tyres for most surfaces or silicone for either carpet or hardwood.
Differentials
One of the most rewarding upgrades, fit one in the front first for increased steering response then one in the rear for even more grip!
Get it lowered!
Out of the box the AWD sits quite high, if you are using it on smooth surfaces with lots of grip it will traction roll.
They come with some .6mm spacers to fit under the knuckles on all four corners, these are great to start but we do have optional spring kits available that will help fine tune the balance between rolling and cornering grip, use these the same as 2WD, start with medium and tailor the car to your driving style and racing surface.
Cool it down
You will find the motor will get quite warm after a run, to keep your motor running cooler (adding to run-time and efficiency) you can fit the motor cooling spacer plates and motor cooling holders!
